Fire Prevention Month

October is Fire Prevention Month and thanks to @firstalert my son and I have been talking about what to do in case of an emergency. #FirstAlertPartner

I have been teaching my son how to cook since he is becoming a teenager and he is more aware of the dangers that being in the kitchen can bring. He has asked me to teach him how to cook eggs and breakfast stuff and on top of teaching him how to do that I’ve taught him why knowing about fire prevention is so important in any case of an emergency, like the microwave or a pot catching on fire. Did you know the #1 cause of home fires is unattended cooking? That is why we have a First Alert Fire Extinguisher in our kitchen and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms installed.

I’ve explained that it is important to have alarms and fire extinguishers, what they are for, how to use them in an emergency, why we need them, and how we can be mindful of the dangers in the kitchen. Teaching him about this at this age will pave the path for when he is out of the house and living by himself, and will also be important for when he has his own family. @firstalert Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm along with the Rechargeable Home Fire Extinguisher are a must in our household and I am happy that my family can feel at ease knowing that we are protected and prepared. Protect your life’s moments this Fire Prevention Month and practice whole home safety - Make sure to test your alarms regularly to help ensure they are working properly. You can find First Alert fire safety products at Lowe’s!
